A website was sent to me this morning that shows
Chris Jordan's current work. It's an interesting commentary on America as seen through images that portray specific quantities of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (five minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on. As quoted by the website 'The underlying desire is to emphasize the role of the individual in a society that is increasingly enormous, incomprehensible, and overwhelming.' I would be very interested to see the series in person because I can only imagine how much more impact they would have when you see them at their correct scale. One that I found particularly disturbing: two million plastic beverage bottles, the number used in the US every 5 MINUTES! The image is actually 60 x 120"

zoomed in on the picture:

Makes you want to go out and buy a Nalgene...or it should anyway.
