Today was beautiful. I didn't have to go anywhere after work, and Jason was driving us to the beautiful St. Philip's Tea Room lunch Maia, he and I enjoyed today, so I figured I would jump on the bike and ride to work. It was perfect weather - no humidity, perfect temperature, just a little breeze - it was GORGEOUS! As I neared the office I noticed a little squirrel off to my right rummaging around in the grass, most likely for something to eat. About this time I also realized that a car was coming up behind me and just about the time I thought 'oh man, that squirrel is going to get scared by that car and run in front of me', the squirrel got scared by the car and ran in front of me. Had that been the only thing it did that would have been it because I still hadn't gotten to the point in the road the squirrel was scurrying about...unfortunately then it did that stupid thing that squirrels do...it started running back and forth, back and forth, not able to decide which side of the road was the safest. Well, I had a car directly to my left and thus I kept my bike straight as to not be plowed over myself and....well....I hit the squirrel. Yes. I hit a squirrel with my bike. It was much grosser to hit a squirrel with your bike than your car, there is much more drama to the 'bump bump' you feel as you hit it with your two wheels. Not to mention you are more or less looking right at it, as opposed to not being able to tell if it got out of the way in time.
When I passed the scene of the crime later that day there was no squirrel to be found, so we are hoping that he got away with as few internal injuries as possible. I, however, will continue to cringe every time I think of it.
You can stop laughing at me now :)

The Blue Angels
Well, the Blue Angels were to say the least impressive. We had a wonderful Sunday afternoon hanging out on the point. Kids decked out in ear protection and adults loving the noise!
And for good measure I'll add a picture in here that one of the guys at my office took from our office building during practice day - pretty incredible!

Jet Engines
There is something about the sound of a jet engine that makes your heart skip a beat. If instead of defining the word power you needed to give it a sound, I would give it a jet engine flying over your office. Yes, that's right, I have the Blue Angels flying over my office. They are in town for two shows this weekend, and so today and tomorrow are practice days. And thus, the office on the harbor is a little louder than normal (rather difficult to hear the conference call I'm on right now), but being able to watch them while eating lunch on the porch was pretty spectacular!

Sweet Child
Now that her brother and cousin are gone the pup dog is all kinds of tired. By the way, in case you ever take care of 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a fish tank in a condo while working two jobs...well, good luck.

Keurig
It's actually possibly a good thing that the Keurig lives at work because it's one reason on Monday mornings to actually get myself to the office...

11,688
This was the 11,688th time the sun rose since I've been alive.
Kaylinn and I headed down to the beach at 6:15 so we could be there with ample time for the 7:08 sunrise. We got there just in time for the sky to be lighting up.
I also wanted to see the 'bright morning star', which is in fact Venus. I am doing a daily devotional of the names of Jesus, and this week's name is 'bright morning star' (Revelation 22:16). It suggested getting up in time to see the morning star, and I figured why not do that on my birthday and bring in the day with a beautiful beginning! I was a bit concerned that I wouldn't be able to find it, but when I got to the beach and looked up my fears were unfounded. It is literally the last star left in the sky. Just it and the moon.
I relaxed while Kaylinn ran back and forth on her leash and finally sat down watching for birds. She was not disappointed, although the birds did wait until it was light out to start flying around. Actually, just about the time the morning star finally disappeared the birds started chirpping...and Kaylinn started freaking out.
About this time I thought that perhaps the sun had risen behind the clouds because it was pretty darn light outside. I hadn't taken my cell phone on purpose so we walked back to the car, and saw it was 6:58. I dropped my chair in the car and we headed back out on the beach. About 2 minutes later the show began...
Eventually I forced myself to head home and get ready for work. It took me a bit longer to choose an outfit since I was basing it off of matching the new shoes my mom sent, but amazingly enough I drove in right at 8:30. I was greeted by tulips and our favorite chocolate candy bars from Maia, the tulips even matched my outfit! Then I started getting all my happy birthday texts, e-mails, calls, and facebook posts. It was awesome! We went out for lunch at Your Pie - there were so many of us we ended up siting at 3 tables. Our party included baby Maia, who I haven't seen since she was born. Anyone who knows me knows that holding a month old baby is a birthday present in itself. I did manage to get a few things accomplished at work, headed home to read and take a mini nap, and then Sandor and I went out to eat dinner at the pier in Folly - my FAVORITE fried shrimp, compliments of mom and dad. I've got two bouquets of flowers sitting on the table (Sandor got me flowers too...and some earrings), my belly is full of delicious food, and I'm tired out and headed to bed. All in all I think sunrise day #11,688 was a winner!

It's Official!
Bone marrow biopsy results are in and it's 100% Brandy - no cancer bone marrow left! At this point the doctor said if her bone marrow would try to regrow Brandy's would see it as an invader and fight it off. Good stuff!
